Our aim has always been to provide a challenging and engaging environment in which students are equipped with the tools to enable them to achieve their potential. Our drive for excellence is evident year on year with our fantastic academic and vocational results.
As a Catholic sixth form we live by our core values of ‘faith, excellence and determination’ in all that we do. We are a fully inclusive sixth form, welcoming students of all faiths and of no faith to be part of our family.
Byron students are unique in that they have our own identity whilst also benefitting from being part of the wider St Bede’s family.
Byron is an exceptional sixth form, offering students a high level of support as they meet the demands placed on them by post-16 study. Our dedicated pastoral team are proud of the young people they work with and encourage them to have faith in themselves and strive for excellence in all that they do.
Students take their next steps from sixth form feeling determined, resilient and well prepared, with the knowledge and confidence to make informed future choices in the wider world. We take pride in the range of academic, vocational and technical qualifications offered, allowing students to follow different combinations, resulting in greater choice at post-18.
Pastoral and academic support complement each other ensuring every student has the best chance to develop as an individual and succeed. We have an extensive range of opportunities which enrich pastoral and academic care to support students on their future pathways. Our students are a credit to the sixth form and wider school and we are always pleased to see how quickly students joining our sixth form from other schools settle, make friends and become a valuable member of our family.
The Sixth Form Team
The Sixth Form Team can usually be found in the Sixth Form Office or in their subject areas teaching, and consist of Assistant Head: Sixth Form (Mrs Robinson), Year 12 and Year 13 Tutors, Ambitions Coordinator, and Independent Careers Adviser. Mrs Balls, our Chaplain, isn’t directly part of the Sixth Form team but is also available for care and support as needed.

Far too many to mention but you will also be supported by your teachers, our IT Manager, Mrs Cessford (Headteacher), Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher, reception, the catering team, the site team and loads more!
